Anonymous asked: I was recently laid off from a job I had for four years. I was told that it wasn't performance, it was downsizing. Someone younger took on my responsibilities and I'm worried they do my job better than I did. I feel like a loser. Any advice?
First off, you probably know whether you were any good at your job or not. If they told you it wasn’t performance, then it wasn’t. They have no reason to lie to you, and it would actually benefit you and them not to lie. As for that younger person, fuck them. It was probably a case of you making more money than that person. We are not our jobs. You are not a loser. Take this opportunity to see as many movies as possible, jerk off a lot, troll the Internet for new dreams, walk, walk, walk, go out during the day and sit on a bench and just be in the present. Look, feel, see. Hang out at a busy intersection and be fascinated by the ant hill in which we live. Do the shit you can’t do when you have a job and you’re chained to that slave wheel of bullshit. Then I guess get another job. Or go and live off the land. But not like that one dude did in Alaska. That was tragic.
